길 위의 삶 - SAPOTEN
2014-09-20 ~ 2014-10-04

Cactus work has been presented since 2002.
With a cactus pot trapped in a long iron frame it implies social pressure situation, which enforce to be fitted with standard and mold, though, it is presented as a hopeful allegory that does not lose vitality of being with thorns.
Cactus’ thorn is what leaves changed and a result of evolution to live in poor surroundings.
The artist ruminates over contemporary man’s life through this Cactus work.

Life on the Road - SAPOTEN

Cactus spines are modified leaves.
They are products of evolution to insure survival in poor surroundings.
In the exhibition, I would like to tell you the nomadic human life
through the essentials of cactuses, persistent efforts and endless evolution.
We are floating like cactuses to look for better surroundings.
Our heart’s desire and dreams are equal to cactuses. They are trying to have leaves instead of spines.
Eventually, their leaves will come out.
Though the environment will be healthier, cactuses never put down roots deeply in an only one place.
It may be a strategy and a wisdom of life, to live in the age of uncertainty.
We are propelled towards an ever-expanding new world of possibilities.
